Houston Texans 2017-18 NFL Season Preview Football Odds & Free Predictions

The Story:
With the Brock Osweiler experiment now a thing of the past, the Houston Texans can finally concentrate on his replacement as the future seems to look bright if things go according to plan. The Texans won the AFC South last season with a 9-7 record and that was without three-time Defensive Player of the Year J.J. Watt and the failure at quarterback with Osweiler so all things considered, a good signal-caller at the helm and the return Watt will make this team a much better one. For the time being, it appears that QB Tom Savage will be Coach Bill O’Brien’s field general until they can nurture the 12th overall pick in this year’s draft in the likes of Deshaun Watson.

The Texans hope Watson will be the answer for a team that hasn’t had decent signal-caller since they entered the league back in 2002. They better make sure that the Clemson product is the real deal for they have given up a precious first round pick in next year’s draft to acquire his rights. Whether its Savage or Watson, the Texans have all the tools to succeed with a talented receiving corps in DeAndre Hopkins and Will Fuller and a 1000-yards rusher in Lamar Miller. The Texans owned one of the best defenses in the league last season and while they lost a few good men in free agency, with Watt returning, they should be scary good once again.

The Bottom Line:
The Texans have feasted on their division rivals for years but that is no longer the case with the Colts and QB Andrew Luck and the new and improved Tennessee Titans who no punching bags anymore. Is Tom Savage really the answer under center and can Watson emerge as a diamond in the rough? I don’t have much faith in Savage but if Watson can make an immediate impact as a rookie, the Texans have a decent chance to win double-digit games and reach the postseason once again, but let’s be cautious

Houston Texans Last year’s record: 9-7
